Site Summary:
Kokua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services offers many types of
services including: medical, dental, prenatal, family planning, mental health,
nutrition (WIC), STD/HIV health education, social and youth services, community
development, outreach, eligibility, transportation, case management, and
translation. Many of KKV employees are bilingual speaking providing translation
services in twelve languages - Ilocano, Tagalog, Visayan, Samoan, Tongan,
Burmese, Vietnamese, Laotian, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, and Micronesian.
Kokua Kalihi Valley offers services to anyone who lives in Kalihi Valley.
Kokua Kalihi Valley's service area is defined by the boundaries of Koolau
Mountain Range in the North, Fort Shafter Ridge to the West, Kalihi Moole Ridge,
Kapalama Middle Range, and Kananaiki Palama Ridge to the East, and H1-Lunalilo
Freeway as the southern boundary. Within this area, KKV serves three housing
projects, Kalihi Valley Homes, Kuhio Park Terrace, and Hauiki.
Kalihi Valley has been designated as a Medically Under-served Area (MUA) and
a Health Personnel Shortage Area (HPSA). KKV offers services to Kalihi Valley
residents regardless of income. Service fees are based on a sliding fee scale.
KKV receives funds from payments for clinical services, federal and state
grants, and private donations.
