Bill LaPlant has been a Federal employee since1968, first as a Computer Systems Design Engineer for the U.S. Air Force, then as Manager of the DOD Computer Standards program, and finally as researcher in Information Technology (IT) for the U.S. Census Bureau.  Since 1994, he has served as the senior standardization expert for the Census Bureau's Standards Management Team.  Bill is the Chair of the National Committee for IT Standards (NCITS) V2 Technical Committee on IT Access Interfaces.  In addition, Bill is involved with research leading to accessibility of complex statistical tables, statistical metadata, geospatial data, and American Sign Language, all over the web; and has made a number of presentations on his work.
