The Multiple Sclerosis Society Of India (MSSI) is holding the first ever MS Walk in India on Saturday, December 7, 2002

The Multiple Sclerosis Society Of India (MSSI) is holding the first >ever MS Walk in India at the Mahalaxmi Race Course, Mumbai on Saturday, December 7, 2002 from 9.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic and incurable disease that affects the central nervous system - making even the simple act of walking difficult and sometimes impossible. It is usually diagnosed in people between the age of 15 and 40. While not usually fatal the disease is debilitating with symptoms varying greatly from blurring of vision to complete paralysis, due to which simple everyday tasks cannot be performed efficiently. MS is not contagious, hereditary or fatal. It is estimated that there are at least 50,000 people in India who suffer from MS.

The aim of the MS Walk, which is being held in association with Pfizer and Tata Power, is to raise awareness about the disease in India and raise money for the MSSI to aid and assist MS patients.

The MS Walk is a fun, healthy way to show that you care. You can walk as individuals, or can get together and walk as a team. All contributions made by you, your friends and family will be given to the MSSI to raise awareness about the disease and help patients suffering from it.

You can make a difference just by showing up! For each person who takes part in the MS Walk, Pfizer will donate Rs. 500/- to the MSSI for providing relief to MS patients. There are also exciting prizes on offer - like a free round trip ticket to Hong Kong sponsored by Cathay Pacific Airways, to be given to the individual who raises the most amount of money for the MS Walk.

So please make an effort to get there. all you have to do is bring your walking shoes, contributions and a smile ! If you arenít a patient of MS it canít be that hard!

Please register for the event by logging on to www.mssi.info/mswalk  or calling the society at 022 24370555.
