Social Security Administration Awards 5-Year Agreement for SSB Technologiesí Section 508 Compliance Software and Services

San Francisco, CA, October 29, 2001 - SSB Technologies announced today that the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) awarded a five-year blanket purchase agreement to SSB Technologies for Section 508 compliance software, training and consulting services.  The agreement will provide approximately 600 of SSA's web developers with SSB's InFocus software as the foundation of their Section 508 compliance initiative.

SSA awarded a blanket purchase agreement to SSB Technologies after evaluating several Section 508 compliance vendors and products on four criteria: technical capability, industry experience, customer performance, and price.

SSA joins a growing list of Federal government agencies turning to SSB Technologies for Section 508 compliance solutions, including the Census Bureau, National Aeronautics & Space Administration, U.S. Geological Survey, and Department of Defense.  SSB Technologies also works with several Fortune 1000 corporations including Adobe, EDS, and PeopleSoft.

"SSA has embarked upon a comprehensive program for Section 508 compliance," said Marco Sorani, President and Chief Accessibility Officer of SSB Technologies in San Francisco, California.  "We look forward to providing our accessibility technology, services and expertise."

Under the terms of the agreement, SSB Technologies will provide its InFocussoftware to SSA's webmasters, application developers, and Section 508 compliance experts.  InFocus automatically checks and corrects web pages for Section 508 violations, dramatically reducing the time and cost of achieving compliance.

Section 508, an amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, requires electronic and information technology that is used, developed, and procured by the Federal government to be accessible to people with disabilities.
