TM SYSTEMS INTROS “TRANSTATION CC™”
LIGHTWEIGHT CLOSED CAPTIONING PREPARATION MODULE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FEBRUARY 5, 2003
Miami/Los Angeles: TM SYSTEMS, has introduced its first
Closed Caption Preparation module, the “TRANSTATION CC”ä, a lightweight,
non-linear system, that has been integrated into the existing Emmy Award Winning
TM SYSTEMS language translation, dubbing and subtitling technology.
TM SYSTEMS has timed the introduction of the industry’s first lightweight
system to fully meet the impending FCC regulations demanding Closed Captioning
capability on every television set by the year 2004. Subtitles are intended for
hearing audiences. Closed Captions however, are for hearing-impaired audiences,
and include the written descriptions of all sounds, i.e. a door slams, he huffs
and puffs, and the crash was loud. It is a broadcast feature that can be turned
on or off selectively.
The introduction of the TM SYSTEMS “TRANSTATION CC”ä is extremely timely
in that it allows captioners to be more productive, more flexible and more
mobile from the onset. Most of the individual users already work from home, with
this system offering the same unprecedented mobility and familiar Microsoft Word
capabilities that all of the TM SYSTEMS software modules now offer.
The deadline set by the FCC affects only TV sets in use throughout the United
States, and networks, studios and distributors are already scrambling to get the
massive task completed efficiently, with great consistency, and on time. The “TRANSTATION
CCä” will expedite that process immediately, ensuring the same high levels of
excellence that brought the freshman software developer its first Technical Emmy
nod “year one” (2002).
The “TRANSTATION CCä” offers the same time and cost savings, along with
the increased efficiency and consistency of the original four-module TM SYSTEMS
language localization system, including: the PrepStationä, the TranStationä,
the DubStationä and the SubStationä.
Already in use in several Los Angeles facilities, Media Captions has been
using the “TRANSTATION CCä” for nearly a month now, with tremendous
results;
“This is the first time we’ve entered the world of closed captioning,”
Media Captions president Oscar Sanin explained. “The clients who we had been
doing subtitling for, on the TM SYSTEMS TranStationä are already predicting
that their need for Closed Captioning preparation will be even greater. Although
we’ve purchased the “CC” as an add-on to our existing system, I’ve
already dedicated one of our TranStationsä solely to Closed Captioning. I’m
ready to purchase additional systems now because the demand is there!”
TM SYSTEMS will introduce and showcase its “TRANSTATION CCä” preparation
module at April’s NAB Convention in Las Vegas, from April 5-10, at the company’s
hospitality suite located at The Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. The fully integrated,
Emmy Award Winning language localization system will also be demonstrated. To
arrange for a demonstration time please call Carolina at (305) 535-6373. TM
SYSTEMS offices are located in Miami, Los Angeles and Caracas.
