Vinton Cerf Elected Chairman of ICANNVinton Cerf, one of the Founders of the Internet has been elected Chairman of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the group charged with overseeing the issues involved with naming conventions on the Internet. He was named to this position on November 16 and will serve for one year. Cerf can count on an interesting time for the next year. ICANN has agreed to institute seven new top level domains and this should prove to be interesting. Regardless of the problems involved with ICANN, many observers feel that Cerf is more than a match for the job. He has been credited with much of the groundwork that underlies the Internet. He helped to found the Internet Society < http://www.isoc.org> and has been involved with many aspects of the Internet since its inception. ICDRI wishes Vint "Good Luck" on this new challange!
