That’s
Like
Me!
By Jill Lauren, M.A.
Foreword by Jerry Pinkney
Book Summary
Jill Lauren’s That’s Like Me! helps children
identify with people who have learning difficulties at an early age. Through her
numerous examples, she demonstrates that learning difficulties can be conquered.
Her book illustrates that once these difficulties are mastered, the options
abound.
The common theme found in her work is diligence in and outside the classroom
equals success in life. Her message is that a person is not bound by their
limits but strengthened through their difficult journey to prosperity. Lauren
carefully chooses a diversity of people to reside in her writings. They range
from young children in grade school to adults in rewarding careers. At the end
of That’s Like Me! it gives the reader the opportunity to search a listing of
web resources. The conclusion of the book has a
blank template so the reader can start his or her own story. Within this book
everyone can find an uplifting profile to which they can relate.
