Access Instructions for Users with Disabilities
Welcome to the City of San Jose World Wide Web Page. At this time the City is
incorporating into our web site the Web Page Disability Access Design Standards
developed by the Office of Equality Assurance. We are pleased to provide an
alternative medium for accessing information about our programs and services. If
you have any suggestions for improving the accessibility features of our web
site, please contact Nina.Grayson@ci.sj.ca.us
Instructions for Users with Visual Disabilities
Our web site has been designed to be used with a screen reader. In addition,
most images on our web site are accompanied by a word image tag that may be
visible if your browser supports the alt-text function.
We have also provided descriptions of photographs that contribute to the
content of the web page. By selecting the symbol "D" the user will
reach a description of the photograph. At the end of the description the user
can select "Return" to be taken back to the photograph.
Example: [photograph] D.
If a web page has an on-line form that is not accessible, please call the
phone number or e-mail the office listed for assistance in obtaining the form or
filling it out.
Instructions for Users who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
The City of San Jose Web Page Disability Access Design Standard requires that
all audio and video clips have text transcriptions or descriptions with a
closed-captioned (CC) hyperlink. At this time the City has begun webcasting City
council meetings and is researching the most efficient and cost-effective means
for webcast captioning. Thank you for your patience.
