For more than 27 years, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA)
has been a leader in service to the Pilipino American community,
providing a broad spectrum of youth, family and health promotion
programs. Recently, SIPA has expanded into new directions to include
the development of affordable family housing, a nationally recognized
youth leadership program (SPEL), and a youth community center to serve
the Temple Beverly corridor. SIPA also fills a vital need for services
and advocacy in the Pilipino American community. The increasing needs
and opportunities facing this burgeoning and dynamic community demand
a comprehensive response, one that SIPA is uniquely positioned to
provide.
SIPA's purpose:
To enhance the quality of life of Pilipino Americans by providing
resources, services and advocating for community issues and needs;
To improve the status of Pilipino American youth and their families
by providing comprehensive services such as counseling, educational
assistance, cultural and recreational programs;
To improve the health of the Pilipino American community by
encouraging healthier lifestyles, providing health education and
preventive services in a linguistically and culturally appropriate
manner, and by addressing critical health issues and problems;
To play an active role in the development of the local Pilipino
town area as well as the general Pilipino American community and to
provide resources for the advancement of Pilipino American issues and
concerns;
To facilitate collaborative actions within multi-ethnic
communities, especially in the Temple Beverly corridor of Los Angeles.
